Opera Hamilton 2012&ndash2103 Season

I am thrilled to announce that our productions for the 2012–2013 season are anchored by world‑class baritones with careers of international acclaim: Jason Howard, John Fanning and Brett Polegato. Catch these stars alongside some exciting new faces and voices that are sure to become part of Canada’s renowned international opera legacy.

Verdi’s masterful tale of the sharp‑tongued court jester and passionately-protective father Rigoletto opens Opera Hamilton’s 33rd season. Welshman Jason Howard, star of both operatic and musical theatre, makes his long overdue return to Opera Hamilton in one of the tour-de-force roles. He is joined in this new production by tenor Gordon Gietz and sensational newcomer soprano Simone Osborne.

John Fanning, tenor David Pomeroy and mezzo soprano Erin Lawson are amongst the headliners for this year’s edition of Popera Plus! Leave the hall “humming tunes” from some of the world’s most popular and beloved music.

In March, Bizet’s “other opera” The Pearl Fishers (Les pêcheurs de perles) returns to our stage after an eleven year absence. Joining Brett Polegato, are soprano Virginia Hatfield and tenor Edgar Ernesto Ramirez in a brand new production created for Virginia Opera.
